"[Those who are baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church by the Sacrament of Confirmation, and the Holy Spirit endows them with special strength so that they are more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith, both by word and by deed, as true witnesses of Christ." (Second Vatican Council, Lumen Gentium, 11)
Prerequisites:
1. Baptism and Eucharist
2. Regular attendance at Liturgy
3. Completion of parish or parish school religious education program the year prior and the year of sacrament preparation. For example, to begin preparation in 9th grade, a teen should be enrolled in 8th grade and then also in 9th grade.***
Preparation is normally in 8th and 9th grade, but is also open to any parishioner who may not have received the sacrament. The process involves a series of workshops with parents and sponsors, a two night retreat during winter break, and an interview with the Confirmation team in the month leading up to the Sacrament. Sessions begin in May and the celebration of the Sacrament normally takes place in the Spring.
