Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world. . . we receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service.
In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ.
Prerequisites:
1. Received the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation and First Eucharist
2. Regular attendance at Liturgy
3. Completion of parish or parish school religious education program the year prior and the year of sacrament preparation.
Students wishing to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation must have already received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Sacrament preparation for Confirmation may begin as early as 8th grade.
Confirmation students will participate in Religious Education classes during their preparation, and may choose the option that best fits their needs:
Students will be expected to attend a series of workshops, a local retreat and complete community service hours and faith formation hours as part of their preparation.
All students will need a sponsor who is an active member in the Catholic Church who will be able to be present at the Rite of Confirmation. There will be various activities for the sponsor and student to complete together throughout the year. If the family is unable to find a sponsor, we will help find a good match in the parish.
