We celebrated three birthdays last night with the tradition of spaghetti, meat sauce and garlic bread. They really enjoy coming by to eat, be with their friends and having the opportunity to acknowledge their day! This is something that does not even come to mind for most here, just another day and another year of life that runs together when you are simply surviving. I set out the table cloth, blow balloons, make signs and a few decorations. They donned party hats, sang and danced as they cut the cake. For Shuku (26) and Jackson (21) this was their very first party and Rama is his second. They each even receive a new wrapped gift. Imagine at this age receiving your very first present. For these three I wrote a card for each saying how proud of their accomplishments and encouraging them to continue. I slipped cash in for each. They were really funny, Shuku kept feeling the envelope, sometimes smelling it wondering what could be inside and Jackson would place his against his head and think just like Johnny Carson used to on The Late Show. It is times like these I enjoy so much...Giving Hope to Change the World!
